UNSENT DISPATCHES
from the Iranian Revolution 1978-1979, a powerful show of photographs by Akbar Nazemi, opened on March 5 at the Presentation House Gallery. Nazemi, an Iranian photographer, returned to Tehran when the Iranian Revolution began in 1978 and the Shah of Iran was thrown out of power after 25 years of rule.
During the eight months Nazemi spent in Tehran documenting the chaos, riots and jubilation of the new Islamic rulers, he risked his life to obtain photographs of the historic moments and found creative solutions to obtaining and processing film under difficult conditions.

The show consists of approximately 140 colour photographs, a small portion of the nearly 3,600 images taken during the revolution and smuggled out of the country in the 1980s. The show is curated by Pantea Haghighi and Bill Jefferies and will run until October 16, 2005.
